H & B’s ‘Streamline’ is Re-defined

Streamline:
– hinged dust covers
– Ultraseal skirt system
– EMRI

H & B Mining are renowned for innovative, solution-based conveyor transfer design. The ‘Streamline’ conveyor transfer was conceived in 2015; its development incorporated the suite of ‘Easy Maintenance’ conveyor products into a modular design. In 2022, H & B have updated and redefined the ‘Streamline’ design and the latest version has just completed installation in WA’s Pilbara.

Post-less Guards

At the core of the Streamline design sits the EMRI. The EMRI not only offers a swift and safe method of access to all rollers but also provides a structural support mechanism for the skirts and guards. This design makes the system independent from the transfer chute above making the idlers, skirts, and guards freestanding.

Each individual H&B product incorporated in the streamline design offers its own easy maintenance benefits to the system. The EMRI has an in-built trolley system supporting the rollers which can be retracted manually in minutes for roller change out. Mounted on top of the EMRIs are custom designed star brackets; these brackets have twin fixings to hold both the skirts and the guards in place. The Ultra-Seal skirt has all the usual H&B easy maintenance components plus the brand-new secondary seal which eliminates the chance for material gathering between the liner and the secondary seal, reducing belt wear, and extending the life of the conveyor belt. The star bracket plays an important role in the overall design as its shape is purpose-designed to allow access to ALL skirt liner bolts with a rattle gun – no other transfer offers such a feature. The guards are held in place via the star bracket eliminating the need for posts hence the “post-less guards”.

Transition zone

A key feature of the 2022 Streamline, is that the skirting system is attached to the conveyor (not the chute). There are several benefits of having the skirts attached to the conveyors:

  • Guarantees a true liner gap
  • Encourages the loaded material to sit centrally on the carry belt
  • No vibrations transfer to the receiving conveyor (reduced ‘wear and tear’)

At its core, the Streamline design enables 100% access to all consumable conveyor items; skirt liners, skirt rubber, conveyor rollers and carry belt. Access is easy and safe, facilitating regular maintenance, resulting in enhanced conveyor productivity.

How is this achieved?

  1. Post-less guards that utilise the EMRI (idler) support frames as support point.
  2. Skirting system is supported by star brackets on EMRI idlers (not the chute above).
  3. Ultraseal skirts include a clamp mechanism for easy maintenance and adjustable skirt liners.
  4. Easy Maintenance Retractable Idlers (EMRI) provide access to ALL rollers for change out.

The Streamline has recently completed installation on a conveyor upgrade at an iron-ore mine in WA’s Pilbara. Maintenance staff looking forward to quicker and safer maintenance for a more productive conveyor transfer.
